To deepen our confluence community — and celebrate the Japanese short form poetry that brings us together — we invite you to send poetry-filled postcards to one another around the globe this summer*.

*Yes, we know it is winter in the southern hemisphere. We hope lots of you south of the equator will take part in this fun project too.

How it works

• Sign up here by August 15.
• By August 31, we'll email you and your partner each other's mailing addresses.
• By September 15, mail your partner a postcard containing a Japanese short-form poem — haiku, senryu, tanka, haiga, even a micro-haibun — your own or a favorite by another poet (attributed, please).
• Then watch your own mailbox: a postcard is on its way to you too.
• Optional: share your postcard with the confluence community by emailing us photos of the front and back of the one you receive. We'll create a gallery of postcards on our website (with mailing addresses blurred out for privacy).
